Who says you can't graduate while on the mission? This week we celebrate four brothers and sisters who have completed degrees while wholeheartedly serving and reaching the lost at their One Year Challenge site.
Howard (in the white t-shirt) was reached out to by a One Year Challenge volunteer earlier this year. After studying the Bible for several months, he decided to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Just weeks after his baptism last month, he volunteered to spend a Saturday serving at a facility that cares for the elderly. As a university student he learned the gospel; now he's living it! This is the ultimate goal of the OYC: to expand the kingdom of God in this fallen world.
This week at the OYC, we are excited to see new arrivals Nick Potter in Birmingham, UK and Emily Schaub (below, in the pink shirt) in Scotland. They will serve and be trained for a year at each of these locations.
We praise God for brothers and sisters like Nick and and Emily who step out in faith to take the One Year Challenge!
God really did promise that the harvest is plentiful! Last month, one of our One Year Challenge sites saw three baptisms in the space of two weekends. These new brothers were all met by brothers and sisters on a One Year Challenge. Jerry and Howard (right, top and bottom) were baptized on the same Sunday within minutes of each other. Connor (left) was baptized the next weekend. All of them are students at the same university.
These two sisters, Londi and Marin, arrived at their One Year Challenge sites after long hours of flying, lots of planning and many prayers. Londi arrived this past Sunday afternoon, Marin, at 1 a.m. this morning! We are so encouraged by their faith.
